VOTE FOR RICHARD HARRIS FOR LABOUR ON 2ND MAY
Richard Harris was born in St Albans and has lived all his life in the city. He has lived in Marshalswick South for forty years and his children and now his grandchildren attend local schools. Richard, now retired from his work as a Business Management Systems Manager for a major international consultancy, will dedicate his time to working for the residents of Marshalswick South. Being such a long term resident he understands the concerns of many residents on the growing traffic problems which include the speed of traffic, pollution and the residents parking schemes which are now simply moving cars form the centre onto other roads in the area creating many problems there. The Bernards Heath play area is enjoyed by very many local children but still there are no play areas off Valley Road for the local children who live in the large estate there.
Roma is the county councillor for St Albans South (Marshalswick South and Batchwood wards) and has represented Batchwood ward on the District Council for over 20 years. She was a magistrate on the St Albans bench for 15 years and Mayor of St Albans from 2000-2001.
She has extensive knowledge of health provision in St Albans through her work as a lay member of the former Community Health Council. She has led the District Council’s strategy to support the retail and pub trade in St Albans through the hugely popular Retailer of the Year competition. As a former portfolio holder for housing, Roma has particular expertise in housing matters and has helped many residents with housing issues. Roma’s extensive experience of local government is matched by her involvement in a range of other groups, such as school governing bodies, advocacy groups for people with learning disabilities and hearing impairment.
Roma chairs the Internal Performance Scrutiny committee and sits on the St.Albans Health & Wellbeing Partnership, the Car Park Contract working party and the Appeals Panel.
