COUNCILLOR JANET SMITH

CouncillorCllr-Janet-Smith Janet Smith is the Labour campaigner for Verulam ward.

Janet represents Sopwell ward on St Albans District Council. Janet has been actively involved in the local community as a councillor and campaigner for many years. Janet is best known for her work with Age Concern and the setting up of the door-to-door bus service to Sainsbury’s for the over 55s, as well as being an active member of the local Credit Union and running the Young Savers Bank at Mandeville School. As a councillor and campaigner she has championed, among many other things, better recycling facilities, safer streets, greener verges and more grit bins.

Janet sits on the Licensing and Regulatory committtee, Planning Committee South and the City Forum.  She is also on two working parties: the Localism working party which is looking at the replacement of City Forum with a Neighbourhood Forum and the Community Safety working party.
